So ya
Thought ya
Might like to go to the show.
To feel the warm thrill of confusion
That space cadet glow.
Tell me is something eluding you, sunshine?
Is this not what you expected to see?
If you wanna find out what's behind these cold eyes
You'll just have to claw your way through this disguise.

Momma loves her baby
And daddy loves you too.
And the sea may look warm to you babe
And the sky may look blue
But ooooh Baby
Ooooh baby blue
Oooooh babe.

Image

If you should go skating
On the thin ice of modern life
Dragging behind you the silent reproach
Of a million tear-stained eyes
Don't be surprised when a crack in the ice
Appears under your feet.
You slip out of your depth and out of your mind
With your fear flowing out behind you
As you claw the thin ice.

Whatever happened with that hammer? Imagine it smashing into top of case... makes nifty carrying handle as well.

I had first heard about Super Sculpey from Paul Capello. He used it as the baby embryo in his Matrix Rebirth. The plan is to mold the "face in the wall" over the Kingwin intake grill (roughly 3.5" x 5") Open mouth will act as the cool air vent. A large gap already exists beneath bezel so the mod won't be detrimental to intake airflow. The face will later be colored in by Airbrush.

I couldn't have done this mod without the Wooden Clay tools... Truley a neccessity for detailing

Image

Clay Modeling tools are must have!
Image

No honey, this isn't Play Doh
Image

Image

Image

At this point I'm thinking "OMFG, Its former President Jimmy Carter"

Making teeth look proportional in clay is P.I.T.A.
Image

I discovered the face was looking a bit long... I chopped off the chin and scaled back the extra clay. Then discovered the jaw was becoming very thin and may not hold up in the oven. So I found some modeling wire to help reinforce the jaw line.

Trying to make everything to scale while still being in proportion is a P.I.T.A....Especially with Gerald's awesome illustration.. I've had to learn as I go so its probally taking me a lot longer than anyone who sculps reguarily. Thats about where I am right now... Next I start molding the stretched skin on either side of the face, refining the teeth and other details, then apply the face to the intake grill before baking it in the oven..

Image

Image

Image

Image

Baking Instructions from Super Sculpey

Quote:
Super Sculpey should be cured in a preheated 275 degree F (130 degree C) oven for 15 minutes per quarter inch of thickness. DO NOT MICROWAVE. For example, a piece of ½" thickness would be cured for 30 minutes.

Into Oven (cookie sheet with alum foil)
Image

Out of Oven after 60 mins. (no shrinkage, but stretched skin curled slighty)

Image

Stainless steel sheet will mount over intake grill. Theres large opening beneath bezel, so limiting intake air to "molded mouth" won't be detremental to cooling.

Image

Glue stainless plate onto intake grill (spring clamps) (24hr cure time)

Image

Glue face onto plate

Image

Intake grill reinstalled.

Next, off to Lin for coloring and mural of brick wall airbrushed over bezel.
